Our Happy Place | Yearly New Orleans Getaway + Baby

GETAWAY TO NOLA WITH BABY IN TOW, I THINK HE LOVED IT JUST AS MUCH AS WE DO

We realized that a trip to New Orleans has become a yearly must. Even while pregnant with our baby, we made a stop to have lunch while driving by.It definitely is one of our happy places.

As much as we have contemplated moving there we just can’t seem to agree on it. It does make a perfect getaway though.

First time visiting Algiers

Plus we needed a quick getaway after Harvey and the cloud of unfortunate things that had been happing in our lives. We needed a real pick me up, NOLA is one of those happy places for us, so off we went.

ANOTHER BABY ROADTRIP

This is our little travel love bug’s third road trip in his short little life. We knew we would continue traveling with our child but assumed it would be much later.Even though we questioned doing this road trip, after such a long day/road trip from Lubbock to Houston. Our little one has done well on road trips plus we enjoy them.  Hubby and I slow down and talk about everything and nothing. We enjoyed our road trip snacks and so did baby.

HOTEL WITH HISTORY

We have stayed all around the French Quarter and around. This time due to the baby we wanted to stay in the Quarter to make sure we could get back to hotel easily if we needed to.

Hotels.com had a good deal with Le Richelieu. It was close to some of the sights we wanted to see on this trip and a straight shot to Jackson Square. Hubby loves his ghost stories and if a place is old he wants to research. This hotel definitely had an interesting story but I will let him write all about it.

FOODIES WITH FOODIE BABY

If this is your first time reading then you don’t know that we like to try the cuisine of whatever place we go to. NOLA is one of our favorites, so many flavors in one place. From Cajun, French, Seafood and eclectic American food. You absolutely have choices. We do repeat a few but most of the time we try new places each time we go.

Beignets!

OUT OF FRENCH QUARTER

Most people who travel to NOLA, specifically the French Quarter don’t venture out. THere is so much to this city to not explore. I’m with you that the French Quarter has so much and easy access but if you have a car or want to jump on the trolley, I would highly recommend you do so. We explored Algiers Point and more of Marigny. This time the winner for us was City park plus the beignets from Morning Call Beignets. More about all the delicious food coming soon, too much for this post.

Relaxing with the sunset in City Park

WILL BE BACK

There are always reasons to return to NOLA but next year there is plenty of reasons. Next year, 2018 mark New Orleans Tricentennial so you know there will be many events to mark this special event in their history. We will definitely be back next year once or twice.
