IF YOU ARE FROM TEXAS, YOU LOVE THE STATE FLOWER, THE BLUEBONNETS

Or maybe I’m wrong and it’s everyone from Houston that is in a mad search to find the blooming beautiful bluebonnets. I have always enjoyed going on drives to see the fields of color just outside of Houston. I even have photos with Mochito (my fur baby) in a field of those adorable flowers.

Well, now that we have a little one we started looking for good places to capture those family moments with those gorgeous flowers. With a baby you have small windows to get those moments, so we started searching for closer to home photos opportunities. I had no clue that there were bluebonnets here in Houston. I’ll tell show where we have taken our photos the last few years.

BRENHAM

This is the place that everyone takes to for the sure photo-ops. It can be crowded and a bit of a drive on the weekends. It’s an hour and a half outside of Houston, but a cute drive. We did this pre-baby life. Not ready to go with the little guy yet. Maybe next year and make it a weekend trip.

SUGAR LAND

I didn’t know there were places with bluebonnets in Sugar Land until I was giving someone a tour of the place we once called home. Our guest got to experiment our state flower with us.

HOUSTON

This year and in the past, I have tried researching the many updates and blogs about the best locations it doesn’t always turn out easy. I think the year after Hurricane Harvey screwed with some of the recommendations, the locations didn’t turn out a great number of bluebonnets. Others have been too saturated with that many crowds.

Family in the Bluebonnets

I loved this photograph this that year with both my children.

We succeeded and found a good place. TC Jester near 610 was the place the above photo was taken. We had the place all to ourselves, no need to be parked on the side of the road, plenty of parking in the shopping center right in front of the field.

HEMPSTEAD

It’s a bit weird saying we went to see bluebonnets when we are in a pandemic. Yet, driving away from home, feels like an escape, even if for only a few hours. We drove just to drive, not knowing if we would find anything or where to stop.
